With its highly-qualified broodmares and multiple approved breeding stallions, Van der Linde Studfarm is an essential part of the equestrian world. Wim van der Linde, his wife Annemarie and daughter Eva share their love for horses and sport; and they ensure that their expansive horse business on Texel runs smoothly day in and day out. Each year, Wim breeds beautiful foals by the best stallions. Some are put up for sale; the rest are raised on the island. When the horses raised on the island are ready, Annemarie and Eva train and compete them. The studfarm’s achievements are evidenced by the numerous talented and renowned horses which have emerged from its successful breeding program.

Successful Breeding Program

Exceptional Horses

The successful breeding program began in 1984 with the mare Corieta (s. Nabuur x Pastrocio XX), who was among the few horses not born on Texel. This mare was the beginning of many successful horses. In her IBOP, she scored 92 points and passed with a double A. Other horses from this line include the mare Lady Texel (s. Farmer), who produced the celebrated Pavo Cup finalist Belle Lady Texel (s. Krack C) and the top auction horse Wonder Lady (s. Ferro).

Approved Stallions

Jerenzo Texel

Corieta was not only the foundation mare of these fantastic mares but also of the approved stallion Jerenzo Texel (s. Enzo Ferrari Texel), who is from this breeding line. His sire Enzo Ferrari is likewise a product of our breeding program, which means that there are two approved KWPN breeding stallions that were born on the island.

The Success Formula

Van der Linde Studfarm’s primary breeding goal is to produce a healthy and large sport horse with a great character. To this end, we mainly use present-day KWPN stallions. In addition, all our yearlings are radiographed; and our three-year-old mares have the PROK certificate. Thanks to a special mix of feed and ample natural exercise, there is rarely a problem with the inspections.

Youngsters

After spending their first years of life on Texel’s vast pastures, the young horses are prepared for the sport mainly by the family. Where Wim primarily concentrates on raising the horses, Eva and her mother Annemarie focus mainly on training the sporthorses. These elements combined comprise the success formula of the great Texel breeding program.
